Docks, Large

The trawler sails sideways at 1.5 mph with a 5-10mph breeze so you would think we could catch walleye drifting but sadly the big one was 12". So after getting skunked walleye fishing off Rattlesnake Island, we headed to Kelleys Island for lunch. I have been calling them for weeks to find out when they open for the season. Turns out they are busy and sometimes don't make it to the phone.

The docks at West Bay are HUGE! We had the seawall to ourselves but could have easily squeezed into the floating docks. The area about 45 feet from the beach set off our depth alarm at 6.5' of water. Don't ask why we got that close to the beach......

Our server, Scotty, was more than happy to assist us in deciding what to eat and drink. Captain Woody was going to be manning the helm so I had the opportunity to partake in some Great Lakes Brewing, Edmond Fitzgerald. Capt'N had her usual Gin and Tonic Tall with Lime and Captain Woody had some water. BTW Captain Woody got his nickname as he was a past Drum Major for TBDBITL at The Ohio State University.

Captain Woody had the Flatbread BBQ Chicken and had nothing but compliments about it. There was more than enough for one person and could have been a meal for two.

Capt'N had a Pulled Pork Sandwich that was fantastic! Very tender, moist and served with a side of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce!

I had a Grilled Chicken Sandwich with some jalapeños and hot sauce as I wasn't feeling too good after drifting in the waves for several hours. The chicken was moist and well seasoned.

They are pet friendly and have a large area dedicated to the pet area. Eat of the tables have water dispensers and cups for us and our four legged friends! There is also a cannon at the far end of the dog area that they fire nightly.
